Meet Kelly and Rachel

Hi, we’re the owners of Cedar + Slate Home Service, LLC. We started our business because, before meeting Kelly, Rachel was a single woman and a homeowner. She knew what it was like to get someone to work on her home. If she could even find someone who would show up, it was scary to let some guy she didn’t know into her home. She convinced (coerced?) Kelly into going out on his own because she knew he could fill the need for a trustworthy contractor who did excellent work and didn’t disappear halfway through a project.

Since then, she’s been proven right again and again because we’re dedicated to building long-term relationships with clients who trust us with their homes.

Kelly Hasenbuhler,
Master Craftsman

Kelly is lifelong Washington resident. Growing up in Auburn, his favorite class in high school was wood shop. He started his career in construction building log homes in the woods of Snohomish County. Since then, he’s spent 30 years in residential and commercial construction and maintenance.

He is truly a master craftsman. His dedication to quality and doing things the right way is unmatched. He holds himself to the highest standard of trustworthiness and excellence.

When he’s not working, he enjoys fishing, rockhounding and exploring antique and junk shops for “rusty, crusty and dusty” treasures.

Rachel Young, MBA
General Manager

Rachel grew up in Oregon, but after more than 20 years in the Puget Sound area, she considers Washington home. She has spent her career in marketing and business development. She holds a Masters in Business Administration from Pacific Lutheran University. Her role at Cedar and Slate is to manage the day-to-day business and keep Kelly from basically giving away his work.

When she isn’t working on estimates and project coordination, she also works as a life and business coach, specializing in ADHD.

When she’s not working at all, she can be found hanging out with her animals, planning adventures and scheming ways to get Kelly to let her have goats, mini cows and babydoll sheep. All suggestions welcome.
